Evangelism Outreach
Lee Evangelism Outreach is committed to reach people locally, nationally and internationally.
This is a mandate by our Lord Jesus,
"And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth, go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the father, and of the son and of the holy ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I will be with you always even to the end of the world (age)."
- Matthew 28:18-20
We are convicted to do the following:
(a) know the word of God
(b) share the word of God
(c) bear fruit and make disciples
Therefore:-
(a) It is our responsibility to know the word of God and practice them in our everyday lives; we cannot give something that we don't have.
(b) We must share the Gospel, (good news) within our homes first.
Joshua 24:15 says "As for me and my house we will serve the lord."
Every household leader is responsible to share the gospel within their homes, and this can be challenging since our family knows us best and if our lives don't fall in line with our message, then our message will be ignored by them. This leads to the next conviction.
(c) Bear fruit and make disciples.
John 15:8 says "Herein is my father glorified that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples."
We must bear fruit. The fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22 - 23 "....love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance..." must be modelled in our lifestyles, so we will be known by our fruit. The more we develop the characteristics of Jesus, God the father will be glorified through us.
EVANGELISM OUTREACH EVENTS 2011
Saturday 17th of September 2011
We joined hands in prayer with our brothers and sisters in a joint prayer meeting breakfast with the Emmanuel Pentecostal Church on Saturday 17th of September 2011 at 8:00am. We are witnessing a high level of crime being committed by youth in the Lewisham area and we needed to break and destroy the strongholds that are leading our youth astray. After prayer meeting, breakfast was provided.
This will be a continuous joint prayer meeting at least twice per year until we see our community saved and delivered from the trap of Satan.
Annual Evangelism Training
On Wednesday 10 August 2011, we were well informed and challenged by Revd Terrance Caine, to consider and observe based on our theme 'Jesus is the answer', Who is asking the question?, and What is the question?, and Are people asking for the answer? We were informed that witnessing should be a lifestyle and we must always be ready to give a rational answer to those who ask us the question.
We should preach the message not the method. He continued to say that making an alter call is a method not the message.
We should not be culturally bound by limiting the gospel to our own people and cultures, we must be ready to share the good news with everyone regardless of their colour, background or religion.
And we are not called to win souls but to sow seeds by our lifestyles.
Evangelism Outreach 2011
On Saturday August 13th 2011, the entire church were engaged in sharing the good news.
We were mobilised at four separate locations; Catford, Lee Green, Lewisham and Lee Church. Whilst assembled at these points we declared the gospel by singing, dancing, preaching, and at one site we offered free car washes. We also had a sketchboard with inscriptions and artwork asking;
- How much are you worth?
- Have you made peace with God?
- What the world needs now is love!
- Poverty, sicknesses, violence, diseases, (Does Jesus care?)
The Bible gives us the response to these questions by teaching us in John 3:16 that
"... God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
We sowed the seed by singing, dancing, helping, and creating the awareness that we are worth so much more than our present situations. We proclaimed the reason that God sent Jesus to pay for our sins, this is so that we don't have to die in sin and be separated for eternity from God. We affirmed that we can only make peace with God by accepting Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches us in Ephesians 2:14 that "He is our peace who has broken down every wall."
When we make peace with God everything will fall into place allowing us to come to him boldly knowing that he loves us and through His son Jesus Christ, we are healed, blessed and are more than conquerers.
Evangelism Crusade 14th - 19th August 2011
Our international guest speaker was Bishop Easton Thompson. We were challenged to be holy, we were also encouraged to be strong in the Lord. Bishop Thompson preached the message of the Gospel with power and clarity. His personal testimony of forgiveness opened the door to a spiritual awakening for the congregation. Over 60 individuals were saved and by the end of the Crusade a number of individuals were filled with the Holy Ghost.
